Great Day at the BKF International Open
A small but mighty squad travelled over to Sheffield last weekend to take part in the British Karate Federation International Open. This is a very high level competition where the expectation was to compete to the best of their ability and learn from top competitors from 13 countries!
The squad did brilliantly and we are so proud of each and every one of you. Well done to the following squad members for take part and gaining some valuable experience:
Greg Burton, Martin Cook, Esme S, Alex T-M, Mitchell L, Loui D’Attorre, Benjamin M, Jayden C and Joe R.
Thank you to Sam Jackson Sensei who gave up his whole weekend to be there and coach the team. It is much appreciated by all. Sam Sensei made the following comments: “Well done all that competed today! No matter the outcome you have all worked hard running up to this comp and displayed some excellent Karate, be proud of yourselves”
The team came away with 3 medals, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. Mitchell Little earned a silver medal in Team Kumite and Loui D’Attorre won a silver medal in team kumite and a bronze medal in individual kumite. Outstanding work fellas well done, we are so pleased for you both and Sam Sensei who has chalked up his first few medals as Squad Coach! 3 International medals is a great start.
The work continues at Squad class with our coaching team , some of the best sessions are the ones you’ve had just after a comp because you know what you need to do to improve. Big thanks to Jaime Sensei and David Sensei who work hard with the team week in week out, thanks to Julie our squad administrator for sorting all the entries and last but not least, thanks to all the parents who have given up their time and enabled their children to gain this valuable experience.
