EKF Childrens, Veterans and Kyu Grades Competition Results

Congratulations to all the Red Tigers who represented our Club at the EKF Competition on Sunday 4th February. You have to be in it to win it and these brave students and their parents and coaches all gave up their day to improve their karate. We are so proud of you all. You either win or you learn. Thank you all for your attendance and effort.

Mike Baron Sensei has made the following report:

“Congratulations to all of the team members. For some, it was your first external competition, some the second but for all of you it was your biggest competition to date. Many categories had over 40 competitors with some of the faces being on the circuit for a couple of years, even at these young ages. So to step on the tatami with the confidence you all showed was an amazing achievement.

Two bronze medals were won by Amalys and Aymeric De Bezenac Messer both in their individual kata 8-9 years and 10-11 years respectively.

Everyone in kata put in really strong performances and everyone went out in really close rounds, with just a little sharper competitors taking the flags”.

Well done to you all!

From our youngest fighter Emily Chidgey who did everything Molly Sensei asked her to do. Emily hasn’t been doing karate for 12 months yet and she put in a great performance. Amazing!

Daniel Chidgey stepped on the tatami for the second time and was against a really good and experienced young fighter. Daniel held his own, did what we worked on and only lost 1-3, this is an amazing result at this level.

Millie Dobbs worked on everything that Molly Sensei asked of her and was a much more composed fighter this time. Even though the result didn’t go her way this time she walked off with a smile knowing what she needs to work on, that is the attitude we need.

Esme Smith stepped out for her first external competition and on such a high level comp so really brave of her. Esme won a point and as said at this level at your first comp scoring a point is like a win, only losing 1-3 again and walked off smiling knowing that next time she’ll be better still.

Lauren Everett ( Karla Clementson ) again put in a brave performance especially on her first time at an external comp. Lauren was just pipped by the speed of her opponent but only just. She worked hard and should be really proud and now knows what needs to be worked on.

Gary Sensei, Molly Sensei, Grace Sensei and I would like to thank all the parents for making a great squad atmosphere and backing each others children. It was a long day and everyone including the young athletes kept on smiling.

Such a busy day I only managed to get a couple of photos, if anyone else has any please add to the comments. But we will do a squad pic at our next kata squad class”

Huge thank you to our Coaching Team: Mike Baron Sensei, Gary Pratley Sensei, Grace Baron Sensei and Molly Austin-Hogsden Sensei for giving up their day to coaching and encouraging our competitors.

It’s a long day after a busy working week and as always your effort and expertise is appreciated by everyone at RTK.
