April Newsletter - Re-opening Dojo's

April Newsletter

We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable bank holiday weekend.Congratulations to all the students who became their Class Kata Champion in March. We saw some outstanding performances. Well done. There is plenty to look forward to and keep you busy throughout April and we are so pleased to be able to open dojos to the 17's and under from Monday 19th April.

  • We have Cadet Leader Class and Assistant Instructor class open to all this Sunday 11th April.

  • We have a full ZOOM timetable and ZOOM 1:1 classes open to all.

  • We have a ZOOM Kyu Grading booked for the Sunday 18th April. There are still a few places left for any Kyu grades who are interested/eligible to grade. Belts and certificates to all successful candidates will be posted on Monday 19th April.

  • We have a ZOOM Course with Team GB's Joe Kellaway Sensei on Sunday 25th April 11am-12pm.

  • Student of the Month competition is running throughout April. Every Instructor will choose their hardest working student and we will post out a medal to your home address.

You are now able to book DOJO lessons via the APP until the end of April. Class sizes are strictly limited to 15 students so you'll have to be quick if you want a place. Some classes are already full to capacity. If you /your child no longer wishes to train in karate please let us know via email to info@redtigerkarateclub.co.uk and we will remove you from our system. If you haven't trained for 12 months or more, you will always be welcomed back. Do not worry :-) We would love to see you. No matter how unfit, inflexible, awkward, nervous you may feel, the hardest part is walking back through the door and then you will remember why karate is so good for you and BRILLIANT fun.Likewise, if you know of any friends or family members who want to get involved, please let us know. We would be grateful to welcome new beginners at this time.If you need a reminder of your username and password here it is:218118 - UID

Good news for our Juniors:

You do not have to train in 3x3 metre squares anymore and you can now work in pairs. Dig out those mitts and pads because you will finally need them :-)You can train in as many classes as you like throughout the week as there is no restrictions on training in multiple dojos.Over 11's will still be expected to wear masks indoors until we start training and then you may remove them. We also advise you to keep social distance before and after the class. Please arrive in your karate uniform - ready to train. Changing facilities will still be closed. You no longer need to wear shoes, but your shoes must be placed in your bag with the rest of your belongings.Cleanliness and protecting each other is key, you need to make sure your gi, mitts and pads are properly cleaned between each session.Do not come to class if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID 19. We will continue to conduct temperature checks at the door as an extra precaution and you will be expected to use hand sanitiser before and after class.Prices and ZOOM LessonsZOOM lessons will remain the same price (£6.00). This will be reviewed after adults can rejoin our dojo lessons from the 17th May.We have continued to offer family discounts for two or more in the same family, DOJO lessons are priced at:£6.50 for 1 person, £5.50 each for 2 in the same household and £5.00 each for 3 or more in the same household. If you are booking for more than one person, please book separately using each persons unique login details. This booking system will be simplified when we no longer have to adhere to strict class sizes. I know it is a pain and I'm really sorry. If the date appears in red on the calendar for that class, the class is full, if it appears green, there is space to book.Be careful what you book, the list of classes is massive because I have had to list every zoom class taking place and every dojo class taking place. The dojo classes are higher up on the list and the zoom lessons are lower down.

Spectators

Parents may drop off their children at the door and collect them at the end, for now, we are not able to let spectators inside our dojos. Please make sure that we have your telephone contact number on the 'My Data' area of the app.

Training for Adults

We are continuing to offer training for adults via the ZOOM platform. We have been given the date of the 17th May to work towards allowing adults in to train. How many adults and whether you'll have to social distance etc. we have no idea yet. As soon as we hear anything we will pass on the information right away.
