ZOOM online training timetable – 23rd March to 28th March

Greetings all!

We hope everyone is keeping well and following the Government’s advice with regards to social distancing and looking after one another in these strange and unsettling times.

As I’m sure many of you will know we offered two ZOOM online karate classes last Friday evening free of charge. The interest was quite overwhelming and we had plenty of students and Instructors taking part. It was fantastic to do karate again after such a challenging week and it was even better just to see all your lovely faces. Over 130 Red Tigers trained over the two sessions and this was unbelievable!

We proved that you don’t need to be in the dojo to do karate! You just need a little bit of space, a laptop – smartphone or tablet and a ‘CAN DO’ attitude! We may decide to get a little creative with the sessions so have your cushions/tennis balls, chairs etc. at the ready for future sessions.

The feedback has been very positive and uplifting. Thank you all for your kind comments. We cannot take the credit for an idea ‘borrowed’ from Tim Griffiths Sensei 5th Dan from Bristol Karate Club. We have him to thank for sure as well as the JKS Senior Instructors who shared their ideas and offered some valuable encouragement on Wednesday evening.

As we all adjust to our new temporary reality, we as a Club firmly believe that this is the way forward. We are embracing the technology available to us and keeping everyone kicking and punching until we can kick and punch each other again!!!!

It was hard work, most had a good sweat on and above all it was very enjoyable.

There were a few technical issues (especially in the first session) but as we gain more experience delivering online classes, we promise to improve!

Below is some of the ways that people followed along with our session. A lot of people managed to ‘cast’ their phone to their SMART TV so they could see Paul Sensei and follow his instructions easily.

So from Monday 23rd March and over the next few weeks – your Red Tiger Karate Instructors will be coming to your living room/kitchen/garden/conservatory or whatever space you have via the ZOOM online app! It really is so easy and I am happy to offer help for anyone struggling to find the app or get involved.

Each class will have 25 student limit so that we can offer feedback whilst you train. To book your place you will need to email info@redtigerkarateclub.co.uk or contact via messenger/phone Rachael Wolstencroft Sensei or Debbie Carter Sensei and we will send you the link for your chosen class(es).

We will need the following information from you:

Students name and which lesson they want to attend. We will send you a link to join our meeting. If you just want to train with your usual Instructor but they are not teaching your grade, you can still join in their class. You’ll just be working on that particular syllabus. That is not a problem.

You’ll need your karate uniform and belt, a laptop, smartphone or tablet with a fully functioning camera and audio. Once the class begins the instructor will mute all the participants and you will only be able to hear the Sensei.

Payment for classes

There will be two options for payment, pay as you go or unlimited monthly pass.

Online Classes will cost £3 or £30 a month for unlimited training. This is not per person, this is per household. If you have a standing order in place and haven’t cancelled it, please reduce your standing order to £30.

Payment can be made to our RTK account:

Account Name: Red Tiger Karate LTD

Account Number: 06954375

Sort code: 09-01-50

We will use this as an honesty box, if you cannot afford to pay at this time, please just book on and train anyway. We would prefer that you still take part than stay away because you are currently unable to afford it.

Individual Feedback Slots via ZOOM

Some of our Instructors will be available for 15 minute Individual feedback sessions.

These will be priced a £5 for 15 minutes.

These can be booked on a day/time at your convenience. Contact either Rachael Wolstencroft or Debbie Sensei to enquire about this service.
