Tatami 3 Events Schedule
Thank you for entering our Kumite Tournament, remember our competition is for the purposes of enjoyment. Win, lose or draw, everybody will be awarded a certificate just for taking part.
Date: Sunday 25th September 2016
Darwen Vale High School Sports Hall
We will expect to see exemplary sportsmanship and conduct both on and off the Tatami on the day. No arguing with decisions made or sulking if your bout didn’t end your way. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Appeals can be made to the Head Official Paul Wolstencroft Sensei and his decision is final.
Remember you are representing our karate club at this competition and you should show respect for both other people and property at all times. Anyone found misbehaving or acting inappropriately will be immediately disqualified from the competition and have all medals cancelled.
Parents and supporters are always welcome and it is free to spectate. All students under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Below you will find extra information and the schedule of events for Tatami 3.
There is plenty of free parking at the venue. Tea, coffee, toasties, sandwiches, snacks and cakes will be available to purchase on the day at reasonable prices and we have arranged R.G Photography (a professional martial arts photography company) to take photos on the day. Action shots and winning moments will be available to purchase on the day or view after the event.
Club merchandise, karate equipment and Adidas uniforms will be available to purchase or order on the day. Any stock ordered prior to the event can be collected from the stock table from 10am onwards.
All students must turn up at least 15 minutes before the start of your event to register with the Ring Runner. It is advisable that you warm up and practise before competing as warm ups will not be done once your event begins. Do not forget to bring your license with you. Your license must be in date to take part or you will need to renew on the day at the cost of £15.
Please make sure you check all three tatami’s for your name. If you cannot see your name or you think you may have been placed in the wrong category, please contact your own Instructor and let them know. Alternatively, you can send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org and I will resolve the situation for you.
Events will run to a tight schedule so please make sure you are where you are supposed to be at the right time. Kumite will be scored using the flags system. Rounds will last 1 minute 30 seconds with the winner being declared as the students who has been awarded the most points or one who reaches 2 full points first.
There must be strictly no contact in junior events with excellent control to be maintained in senior events. Gum shield are compulsory for everyone taking part and groin guards are highly recommended.
Medals and certificates will be awarded immediately after the event.
We will be selecting our team to send to the JKS England Nationals based on performance and conduct at this event so please do your very best.
Good luck to everyone and we look forward to hosting another enjoyable and successful day.
