We would like to congratulate John O’Donovan who assists Teresa Withington Sensei at the Chesham class for successfully passing his Assistant Instructor examination at the first attempt.
John is a natural at teaching and really comes across well at the front of the class. The added bonus is that he is as equally lovely as Teresa Sensei is so this teaching team is one of our very best! John will make a fantastic Instructor one day and will no doubt continue to work hard and improve his teaching skills.
We are delighted that John has passed and it is our pleasure to welcome him to the team! Assistant Instructor and Pro-Wrestling Champ! What a talented fella! (I might have made the 2nd bit up, but he knows what I mean! Ha ha ha)
Well done to Teresa Withington Sensei who has taught John brilliantly over their time working together and prepared him very well for his exam.
Big thanks to Mike Beckwirth Sensei for conducting the assessment and he had the following to say:
John O’ Donovan assessment: 13/07/16
“I attended Chesham dojo on Wednesday (13th July ) to do John’s Assistant Instructor Assessment”
“He was thoroughly prepared although a bit nervous but appeared very comfortable at the front of the class. He had a good class plan which was followed to the letter and ran a more or less text book class”
“His interaction with the students was excellent considering that there were only a few adults in the class and he utilised his cadet leaders (Emily and Megan) to full effect”
“The class was made fun but the students knew exactly what to do and trained hard for him, even if there were a couple of cheeky ones. There was even a request for squats at one stage!!!”
“John wasn’t afraid to come off the front to use punch bags or correct techniques and he also gave good demos of techniques”
“On the whole a really good, polished assessment that has obviously been practised, corrected and fine tuned with the help of his Sensei. – well done John!”
“He will be another great asset to our ever expanding team!”.
We hope to bring you more good news as a few examinations take place in August. Watch this space!
