We would like to thank everyone who attended the JKS England Courses with JKS Hombu Dojo Instructor Hajime Matsue Sensei 5th Dan.
We are very fortunate to have been able to host Matsue Sensei and both courses were well supported with everybody eager to learn and train hard.
Thanks to Alan Campbell Sensei, Wendy Preston Sensei and Paul Giannandrea Sensei for affording us this opportunity. Thanks also to our visitors from Paul Allison Sensei’s Club in Preston and Wayne Butler and Marie Shoulder.
We held two courses, one at our Heywood Dojo on Wednesday 14th March and one at our Stretford dojo on Thursday 15th March.
Matsue Sensei worked us really hard over the two days with various Kihon drills and Katas Heian Nidan, Heian Yondan, Bassai Dai, Jion and Kanku-Sho. Those who came on the Wednesday evening were treated to an exceptional demonstration of Kata Gojushiho-Sho.
We learned so much. Not only is his karate inspirational, he proved to be a very patient and methodical teacher. Sensei went into great detail and was thoroughly explaining how to perform the moves and the bunkai (application) behind the moves.
He was using some of our youngsters for demonstrations and although they must have been very nervous, it’s a great honour for them to help Matsue Sensei to emphasise teaching points and something special that they will never forget.
Mike Baron Sensei (with the help of a very capable Mark Jackson) has kindly taken and processed some photograph’s and videos from Wednesday night and you can view these now by following the link below:
