Excellent turnout for Cadet/Assistant Class and JKS Squad Selections

We would like to thank all our budding Instructors of the future for their attendance and hard work at our first Cadet and Assistant class of the year. There were well over 120 Cadet Leaders, Assistants and Trainee’s taking part at the first class of the year and the class went brilliantly.

It was the first time Mike Beckwith Sensei and Nicola Holland Sensei had taught the Trainee’s and Assistants and they left very impressed with the standard and enthusiasm shown by all.

Paul Wolstencroft Sensei is back teaching the cadets and the children worked so hard, they even had time for a bit of fun and relay races at the end! There was some suspicious cheating going on by the Instructors, so we will have to watch out for that next month!

JKS Squad Selections

We are delighted to report that the following Red Tiger students were re-selected for the JKS England Squad:

  • Grace Baron – Junior Kata and Kumite Squad
  • Lori-Ann Moran – Junior Kata and Kumite Squad
  • Sam Jackson – Junior Kata Squad
  • Connor Cherry – Adult Kata Squad

This is brilliant news and we are very proud of them all.

JKS Squad members

Squad selection took place at the Leeds Karate Academy with National Squad coaches Matt Price Sensei and Nick Heald Sensei.  Best of luck with all of your competitions this year from every at Red Tiger. You have the whole Club behind you.

If you are interested in competing externally, we plan to gain more experience by attending a few more competitions throughout 2016 and send a larger contingent of Red Tigers to the JKS England Squad Selections next year. If you would like to take part, the opportunity is there for everyone.

More Good News…………..

Grace Baron has been provisionally selected to represent JKS England in the Kata event at the JKS World Championships which are due to held later this year.

This is following her run of fantastic medal winning results at last years’ national competitions. We are so pleased for her and she knows that there is a lot of work to do between now and then, hours of sweaty hard work, repetition and practice to prepare herself fully for this elite event. She will be up against the very best in the World in her age group. We are all behind you and ready to help you every step of the way. What an inspirational young lady, you have made us all very proud.
