Huge thank you to all the brown belts, black belts and Instructors who attended our Course on Sunday 16th April.
It was a big success with over 100 Red Tigers training with Paul Wolstencroft Sensei and Mike Beckwith Sensei covering both the Shodan and Nidan grading syllabus.
All of our students and Instructors worked super hard and it was a very enjoyable day.
The Course was followed by a Mock Dan Grading whereby eligible students could practise the Dan grading under examination conditions. There were some excellent performances and all students coped well under the pressure.
You are all very brave to put yourselves under that level of pressure to prepare yourselves for the big day in May.
It is also a great chance for Instructors and Assistants to have a look what we need to focus on during the final few weeks of preparation.
Now is the time to dig deep and work hard. If you are disappointed with your performance yesterday, there is only YOU who can do something about it.
Make a plan, turn up to class, practise before/after and ASK for help.
If it went well for you, don’t become complacent. You must continue to work on everything, stay focussed and continue to improve. You can only get better.
Your Instructors believe in you. We have invested our time in you over the years and we care deeply. Get used to feeling uncomfortable, because that is when we see what lies behind your talent. Dan grading is a test of character as well as technical ability. The majority of you showed great character yesterday and we really couldn’t ask for more.
The grading practise class will continue to run between 6pm-7pm every Monday evening at Thornleigh Salesian High School with Paul Wolstencroft Sensei. Take advantage of the last few weeks to practice.
Grading slips will be given to Instructors this evening and be passed on in due course.
Big thanks to Mike Beckwith Sensei for teaching and all of the Senior Grade Instructors who helped out on the Dan grading panels.
